Ubisoft Gamelab Competition

Students have 10 weeks to deliver a playable video game prototype that follows a theme, guidelines, and constraints given by a jury of Ubisoft professionals.

Each team can count on the support of two mentors from Ubisoft studios in Montreal, Quebec City and Saguenay. At the end of the competition, the jury selects winners in various categories and awards $22,000 in scholarships.

After winning the 2018 edition with our game Minors, I started mentoring other teams in an official capacity as a Ubisoft Mentor from 2021 to now.

As a mentor, my role is to enable students to achieve what they set out to do. Giving advice on design, and more, to get the best out of their ideas and the time they have to create their prototype.

Every year, I learn something new about mentoring students and how to better communicate feedback and advice.
